OUR ROOTS

Can-Sky embodies the culmination of years of experience in the field. The company’s story begins with founder and general manager, Manuel Da Silva, a former foreman at one of Canada’s oldest and most established roof construction firms, who founded Can-Sky Roofing in 2003.

Manuel took up a position as an apprentice roofer in 1987. He was introduced to roofing by his father-in-law who had been roofing since the early 1970’s. Within several years, he was promoted to a foreman position and led production crews at some of the largest and most distinguished flat/low-slope roofing projects in the City of Toronto and the surrounding GTA. In 2003 he left his position and founded Can-Sky.

Today, the company has grown to multiple production and service crews and has diversified its suite of available services.

The firm began with one production and one service crew engaging solely in subcontract work in industrial/commercial/institutional (ICI) and multiple-dwelling unit (MDU) general contract and flat/low-slope roofing projects throughout Southern Ontario. As Can-Sky began to garner a reputation for quality workmanship projects completed within budget, the company began to directly take on clients of their own. During this period, the company grew in both administrative and operative functions.

Can-Sky began their sheet metal division in 2009 to satisfy client demand and to supplement its roofing and service divisions.
